Shopping Food & Drink

The Retail Study demonstrated that there is also capacity for additional non-food shopping in the town centre.

Improving the quality and range of both multiple retailers and the independent sector should act as a draw for local residents and visitors.  The Colliers Report recommends that this can be done in a number of ways - providing new shop units in larger floor plates for multiples and modern shops that offer the opportunity for independent retailers to upgrade their space.

Improving the food and drink offer is also essential to enhance the quality of the town centre experience, encourage day visits and boost the evening economy.  The Partnership has recently commissioned a study into the potential for improving the leisure and entertainment offer in the town.
