A Quality Hotel
The Yellow Book Report described Helensburgh's accommodation offer as "dowdy and outdated". There is a captive market of visitors to the Faslane Naval Base but the report expressed the view that there was a low quality of choices for tourists.
The view was that there was a real opportunity to position Helensburgh as the base for visitors to the National Park. This is a short-break market and visitors will want quality accommodation to match the outstanding landscape and natural history of the town. Yellow Book recommended an initiative to raise the quality of Helensburgh's offer by encouraging a major operator to establish a modern 3 or 4 star hotel in the town centre and exploring the potential for one or more small boutique hotels to bring a touch of class and distinctiveness to the town centre.
The Partnership has commissioned a consultant to investigate the potential for the development of new hotels in Helensburgh. |
